Bryce Avary

The past several years have been busy for Bryce Avary, the singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist known as The Rocket Summer. Having played every instrument on all five of his full length albums including Calendar Days and Hello, Good Friend (released on indie label The Militia Group), Do You Feel and Of Men and Angels (released on Island Def Jam) and the most recent self-released Life Will Write The Words, Avary is able to cohesively debut a lush, layered, and exuberant indie alt-rock pop sound to cult-like fans around the world. The Rocket Summer has gained a reputation not only for Avary’s multi-threat talent in the studio, but for his and his band’s energetic live shows. Most recently headlining two successful headlining tours across the US and Canada.

Avary’s most recent album Life Will Write The Words debuted #2 on iTunes alternative album chart and #58 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. In a 4 out of 5 stars review in Alternative Press, Annie Zaleski raved that the new album “…boasts some of Avary’s most concise songwriting to date…a self confident, unfettered vibe that’s invigorating…Avary hasn’t lost the earnest energy of his early work, he channels this enthusiasm with maturity and finesse…the album embodies everything which makes The Rocket Summer so great-whether it’s the gorgeous, acoustic ‘Soldier’; the brisk, jazzy piano-pop shimmy of ‘The Rescuing Type’; the finger-snapping, Ben Folds-like ‘Circa 46’; and the nostalgic, classic-rock chug of ‘Just For A Moment Forgot Who You Are.”
November 7th, 2013, Avary decided he was going to announce a Christmas EP before having written a note of it, and release it in less than a month by December 3rd. “I gave myself three days to write three songs, and ten days to learn how to properly engineer a record because I had never fully done that myself. It was in fact madness,” says Avary. What resulted was a four-song EP, digitally released December 3rd, featuring three originals, “Christmas Madness”, “Elf Creep” and “Grapevine Eve” as well as one classic “O Holy Night” which debuted #5 on the iTunes Holiday Charts.
Bryce Avary is currently working on his sixth full length album in Los Angeles. With new music on the horizon, fans anxiously awaiting and a ‘leave it all on the stage’ live show, the next season is looking bright. Expect the new album to be released late 2015 early 2016.
