Southwest By Midnight Coverage at RockBar May 2016

Soundwave Brigade is out once again supporting our local music scene, and tonight we are heading down to Rockbar in Scottsdale, Arizona for Southwest by Midnight’s CD release party!

Southwest By Midnight is an Arizona based Rock band that formed in 2013 and define their sound and style as a blend of sun-drenched rock with a little blues and funk to create a truly distinct sound. A quintet of seasoned musicians that draw upon life in the Southwest and the Sonoran Desert as a template in their musical creative process.

With Dierdre Evans (Lead Vocals), Jacques Billeaud (Guitars, Keyboards), Erik Ramnath (Guitars), Gregory White (Bass, Vocals), and Chris Fiscus (Drums) completing the current line-up of the band, and this evening they will be performing and celebrating the release of their debut album Mix Tape.

Upon arriving at Rockbar we can already see some familiar faces showing up here at Rockbar. From friends and fans, to other local musicians from our local music scene coming out to support Southwest by Midnight, and as a bonus, they’ve also come to support their preferred beverage of choice.

With show time approaching Southwest by Midnight takes the stage in good spirits tonight as they open their set with a cover of “Put the Gun Down” by ZZ Ward. After the cheer dies down after their opening song, Dierdre asks the crowd how the are doing and thanks them for showing up tonight as it was a very special night for them.

Performing songs from their debut album such as “30K Millionaire”, “Devil’s Highway”, and “Mirror”. Their music has an upbeat variety to complement the compilation of tracks that complete Mix Tape, with each song telling a story of it’s own. The band was having a great time, and so was the crowd with Gregory and Dierdre’s playful humor with each other and the audience. With all in attendance and everyone having fun, Southwest by Midnight let the Rock roll on and finished their show with another cover of “High Road Easy” by Sass Jordan.

After the show, the night was still not over for Southwest By Midnight and the people who gathered here tonight. The band members quickly cleared the stage of their gear and headed back inside to hang out and enjoy the company of fans and friends…..and drinks. Hanging out with everyone here tonight found a common topic of discussion and it reflected upon the album title, and the title track “Mix Tape”. With the lyrics and musical style of the song giving a fond reflection of the days of cassette tapes and the freedom to pick and choose the music that the listener wants to hear and when was a positive trip down “memory lane” for those who remember those days.

For a lot of people here tonight to find themselves involved in such a discussion about mix tapes, is a compliment to Southwest by Midnight’s creative process as they succeeded in capturing and reflecting a mutually shared memory of a time in music history.

We all came here looking for a great time and musical entertainment, and Southwest by Midnight rocked! They had a great night themselves and so did the crowd. As for the band it was a special night, for all their hard work and time in completing their debut album and making it available for others to have and enjoy was evident before the show started….you could see their pride and joy in their accomplishment as a band!
