5 Seconds of Summer at Ak-Chin Pavilion

Saturday September 10th, 2016 Ak-Chin Pavilion filled its seats with screaming teens that were ready to see one of the hottest bands amongst the Millennials to date 5 Seconds of Summer also known to most as 5SOS during their 2016 Sounds Live Feels Live World Tour. Some of these scream queens were accompanied by their chaperon dads that quite frankly didn’t look to happy to be there, but one daddy daughter duo held up a sign in the front row that read, “My dad and I flew ALL the way from Alaska for this” followed by a “No Ragrets” quote from the movie We’re The Millers.

Luke, Michael, Calum, and Ashton make up 5 Seconds of Summer, an Australian rock band from Sydney who formed in 2011. The group initially were YouTube celebrities, posting videos of themselves covering songs from a variety of artists during 2011 and early 2012. They rose to international fame while touring with One Direction on the Take Me Home Tour.

They included songs like, “She Looks So Perfect” which was released in the UK in late March of 2014. In spite of only one day on top in the British iTunes store and ending its week in the lower end of the top 10, 5 Seconds of Summer became only the fourth Australian band to have a UK number-one single, and the first to do so in 14 years according to Wiki. They also covered the oh so famous 1980’s hit by the Romantics, “What I Like About You” and proved the Millennials do have a soft spot for some of the oldies.

Overall 5SOS doesn’t seem to ever disappoint and eventually this group had even the dads dancing in their seats.
